Predictions for Premier League Match Day 16

I don’t see any away winners this week, that’s statistically unlikely, but here goes:

Arsenal - Everton - Home

Liverpool - Fulham - Home

Newcastle United - Leicester City - Home

Wolverhampton - Ipswich Town - Draw

Nottingham Forest - Aston Villa - Draw

Brighton & Hove - Crystal Palace - Home

Manchester City - Manchester United - Home

Chelsea - Brentford - Home

Southhampton - Tottenham Hotspur - Draw

Bournemouth - West Ham - Home

Last week I scored seven out of nine, my best week yet. The postponed Liverpool - Everton game would probably have given me an 80 percent hit rate, but there’s still time yet.

As of this week I’m at 59 right out of 119 games, a fraction under 50 percent.

@paulhellyer I'm looking forward to the Manchester derby, was disappointed the Liverpool derby didn't brighten up last weekend. I think Nottingham Forest - Aston Villa could be a great game and I was tempted to pick Southhampton's first win of the season against Spurs, but it 100 percent depends on which Spurs turns up, there could be a lot of goals.

@billbennett Hard to disagree with your picks, Bill. Pretty much on form. The Manchester derby is intriguing. I can not imagine for a moment Citeh will lose despite their recent form, and especially given how bad United are, but both teams are capable of woeful performances. But, yeah, I would still expect Citeh to win comfortably. TAB certainly do too. A lazy $5 on a draw though for interest sake.

@paulhellyer As you say that game is intriguing as both teams have been through a run of bad form. I think the home advantage will be a big factor, also United is one of the few Premier League teams that simply doesn't have the key to unpick City in its armoury, a lot of the lower teams are really good at counterattacking, a creaky looking City is an opportunity. United CAN counterattack, but it's not a strength. I'd pick City's defence over United's attack any day.

@billbennett Yes, it is hard to know which Spurs will turn up. They are the very definition of inconsistency. As to the Manchester derby, I agree with all your points and expect a comfortable 3-1 result to the home side. Nice time of the morning for you watch Chelsea demolish Brentford on Monday!
