Do people outside the US still care about Chromebooks? Back in the day I’d get huge amounts of local traffic when I wrote about them, then, almost suddenly, crickets.

Ron Chester

Hi Bill, I have fond memories of many Chromebooks. I owned several of them and they were my main device in all my early trips to Thailand. They were always less expensive than most other devices available, but always plenty powerful for blogging while traveling in Thailand. 🇹🇭

My last one is still sitting on charge in my bedroom. This one now only works for about an hour before needing more battery charging. My blogging tapered off and eventually I was just reading on my Android phone, which had enough charge that I can use it all day, while charging some while in use. So the Chromebook just fell out of use.

The Chromebooks serving me totally well and I never had any complaints at all in using them. I mostly shifted to just reading with occasional emails and my Android is just fine for that. Of course it is much smaller and fits in a holster on my belt. So ease of use won out in the end.

Cheers,

Ron, W6AZ from the midwest in IL.

@Ron That anecdote kind of underlines what I’m seeing, there was interest, even love, for Chromebooks, but they are on the way out.
