When I post a new story on my main website: [billbennett.co.nz ](billbennett.co.nz ), it pings Micro.blog which, in turn, works Fediverse magic to ping Mastodon and BlueSky.
What’s interesting is that Micro.blog picks up the ping immediately. Even when at its slowest we are talking about a few seconds.
On the other hand there are always delays going from Micro.blog to Mastodon and BlueSky. Usually a few minutes… but they can be much longer. The worst I’ve noticed is around 100 minutes.
I’d be interested if you have any insight into why this can be so variable.
I've also noticed that going from micro.blog to Friendica. Normally, it takes a few seconds, but once or twice it took so long I though the cross posting connection had failed.
@pkboi I didn’t realise Frendica was still going. Not sure why I thought it had closed. Pleased to see that it is still there.
I don't think there is a big user base across all the instances, but I imported all my former Mastodon and Firefish contacts into it so it's a comprehensive and usable combination of Mastodon for people and Facebook for functionality (sort of). Longer posts (5,000 characters) and I can now cross-post from Micro.blog, which I am growing to love. The Mastodon profile I use now is via Vivaldi and I use it as a backup. Seems to work.
