Started composing a whinge about an annoying Microsoft Word flaw, but realise I have written the same complaint a number of times over the past 30 years. Microsoft appears to have no interest in fixing these things. I’ll be happy when clients no longer expect to get copy in Word format.

When people required Word, I'd write in Apple Pages and export in Word format. Worked fine for me. I could also get a Word file, track changes and return a Word file via Pages on Mac.

@Miraz I did that in the past, but on one occasion the Pages file saved the document slightly weirdly and the newspaper editor was so over the top furious about something that wasn't really that serious, that I gave up. Easier to pay Microsoft $120 a year than find alternative employment.

Fair point!
